Several programmes use the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme name. Choosing the correct route matters because the sponsoring authority, service documents and eligibility categories differ. A family connection to a uniformed service does not automatically establish eligibility under every PMSS listing.
| Published benefit rates | ₹2,500 per month for boys and ₹3,000 for girls, under the cited MHA and RPF rules. |
|---|---|
| CAPF / Assam Rifles | Specified dependent wards and widows pursuing eligible technical/professional education. |
| State Police route | Dependent wards of personnel martyred in terror/Naxal attacks; not a general scholarship for every police family. |
| RPF / RPSF route | Separate Railways scheme with its own service categories and course conditions. |
| Confirmed NSP deadline | 31 October 2026 for the checked CAPF/Assam Rifles and State/UT Police listings. |
MHA describes separate provisions for CAPF/Assam Rifles dependants and the eligible State Police category. Its revised guidelines require at least 60% in the relevant minimum entry qualification for an eligible professional course. The rules also set service-category priorities and a two-child family limit. Read the exact category rather than assuming every serving or retired employee’s ward qualifies.
MHA explains that the monthly rates correspond to ₹30,000 annually for boys and ₹36,000 for girls, paid following selection. This is not a promise of a monthly deposit to every applicant. Continuation, course duration and verification conditions apply.
The RPF guidelines cover specified professional degrees and service-family categories, with a minimum 60% entry-qualification requirement. They exclude study abroad and distance learning and permit one supported course. The cited RPF document relates to an earlier academic session: confirm the 2026–27 notice and deadline separately. Do not assume that the CAPF deadline automatically applies to RPF.
First identify the parent’s service and the applicable category. Ask the relevant welfare or nodal office which service, dependency and admission records are required. Prepare clear copies and check that your course name matches the supported list. Keep the final acknowledgement and follow the application through verification; a submitted form and a sanctioned scholarship are different stages.
Read the live specifications and announcements before applying, especially if a deadline or rule has changed. JobJet is an independent information website; it does not sanction scholarships or collect applications.
