Post-Matric Disability Scholarship 2026–27: Eligibility, Fees and Allowances

By JobJet · Sources checked 26 October 2026

Continuing education can involve both academic expenses and disability-related costs. The central post-matric scholarship provides several forms of support for eligible students after Class 10. It should be assessed as a set of fee ceilings and allowances, rather than advertised as one guaranteed cash payment.

Disability thresholdBenchmark disability of 40% or more—not strictly greater than 40%.
Family incomeUp to ₹2.5 lakh per year.

Student deadline31 October 2026, as listed on NSP.

Financial support explained

DEPwD’s published summary provides admission/tuition fee support up to ₹1.4 lakh and other compulsory fees up to ₹10,000, subject to eligible actual charges. It lists maintenance of ₹1,200 monthly for hostellers or ₹650 for day scholars, a ₹1,500 yearly book allowance and disability allowance of ₹2,000–₹4,000 annually.

The fee ceiling is not an automatic ₹1.4 lakh grant. Your study, residence status and verified fees determine which components apply. Use the detailed specifications for the current session to check payment conditions.

Check the correct scholarship component

Post-matric and Top Class Education are separate entries within the disability scholarship framework. Do not copy an institution list or benefit table from one component into the other. The department’s summary also limits support to two children with disabilities from the same parents and restricts receipt of another scholarship or stipend.

UDID and the live application process

NSP’s current announcement asks students with disabilities to log into the UDID portal and consent to sharing their UDID details before applying. Follow that official process yourself or with a trusted helper; keep login credentials and identity documents private.

Build a useful document checklist

  1. Confirm the correct course and scholarship component with your institution.
  2. Review the UDID, identity, income, admission and fee evidence requested in the live form.
  3. Make sure uploaded scans are readable and details agree across records.
  4. Retain the acknowledgement and check whether the institution requests corrections.

If you need assistance, ask the institution’s scholarship nodal officer to explain an unclear field before submission. Correct information is more useful than guessing an answer to finish quickly.
